As we age, the skin loses collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. In the cheek region, the skin becomes loose and dry. The malar fat pads, which give the cheeks their full and youthful shape, begin to lose their fullness and droop down. This leaves the appearance of sunken cheeks, which can leave the face looking aged and “tired.”
By replacing and lifting these lost fat pads, we can very effectively and safely restore and shape full, youthful cheeks.
WHO IS SUITABLE FOR THIS TREATMENT?
Patients who have lost shape and fullness in their cheeks due to aging or patients who simply have never had full cheeks are suitable for this procedure. Patients who have deformities in the cheeks and mid-face due to birth defects or injuries are also suitable.
HOW IS THE TREATMENT PERFORMED?
Firstly, a topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to the areas to be treated in order to numb them and minimise any discomfort. Then, a very fine needle is used to inject the filler into the cheeks to improve the definition, fullness, and balance of the mid-face and to encourage a youthful appearance.
IS IT PAINFUL?
Due to the topical numbing cream applied prior to the treatment, there is very minimal discomfort. Also, the needle used to inject is very fine, and patients often report that the procedure is next to painless.

ARE THE INJECTIONS PAINFUL?
Some patients may experience localised tenderness, redness, swelling, and bruising at the site of injection.
However, should these effects happen, they will only last for the first two to three days after treatment. Any bruising can be covered with light makeup.
